Aperol Spritz

Ah, the classic spritz. Perfect on a summer afternoon, at brunch with your friends, or as a festive pre-dinner cocktail. This Italian bitter apéritif is made of gentian, rhubarb, and cinchona, among other ingredients.

Read on for my classic Aperol spritz recipe. No fancy additions here. Why ruin a good thing?

The best classic Aperol spritz recipe (serves 2):

  • 3 oz. Aperol

  • 3 oz. sparkling wine

  • 1 oz. seltzer water

  • 4-5 ice cubes, or two large ones

  • 2 orange peels

Stir together the Aperol, sparkling wine, seltzer water, and ice. I like to run a potato peeler alongside the skin of an orange to create a delicate, citrusy garnish.
