The Two-Ingredient Marinade You Didn’t Know You Needed

October 29, 2021

It starts with two ingredients: Maple syrup and Dijon.

And don’t skip on quality. Pure New England maple syrup and good Dijon (like Maille) go a long way. I always keep both in my pantry and refrigerator.

Why? Because it’s the base of most of my marinades. I promise you it won’t disappoint.

I typically whisk together two parts Dijon and one part maple syrup. Depending on the dish I’m making, I’ll add in:

  • soy sauce

  • minced garlic

  • extra virgin olive oil

  • fresh herbs

  • Worcestershire sauce

  • lemon juice

My uncle recently introduced me to a salmon recipe that was a game-changer.

He whisked together maple syrup and Dijon with fresh cilantro, extra virgin olive oil, and Worcestershire sauce and marinated the salmon before grilling it.

He then topped the remaining sauce on the grilled fish. I never thought to grill fresh herbs like that, but it worked. If you don’t like cilantro, you can swap it for parsley.

Let me know what you create.

Cheers,
